 Alnwick is the historic county town of Northumberland and seat of the Duke of Northumberland. It is a picturesque traditional market town.
The Market Place in the town centre hosts weekly markets as well as events including the Alnwick Fair, International Music Festival and the Alnwick Food Festival.
These inlcude Barter Books, one of the largest second-hand bookshops in Britain, the Baliffgate Museum with displays on Alnwick's history and the House of Hardy Fishing Museum and Country Store.
There are many quality shops, a sports and leisure centre and the Alnwick Playhouse stages performances and films throughout the year.
Adjacent to Alnwick Castle is the Alnwick Garden. Although developed in an area of the Castle Grounds, the Garden is a separate attraction. Visitors wishing to visit the Alnwick Castle and the Alnwick Garden are required to purchase separate tickets. Tickets for Alnwick Castle can only be purchased at Castle Admission points and those for the Garden at Garden Admission points.
Alnwick Castle has Admission points on Castle Square and Greenwell Lane.
