Bowburn Park, the picnic area between Alnwick Castle and The Alnwick Garden, will be given over to old time fairground rides including a helter skelter, carousel and swingboats.
Bowburn will be be-decked in red, white and blue and there’ll be BBQ food and ice creams on sale to enjoy. There will also be the opportunity to make sure you are fully kitted out in red, white and blue memorabilia with face painting and all kinds of themed Jubilee items to buy - such as flags, hats, balloons, mugs and umbrellas!
The fairground will be open from 10am-6pm on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd June. We hope this area will become a real hub for families to enjoy and we encourage locals and visitors alike to participate in a giant picnic at Bowburn, as a part of the ‘Big Lunch’ initiative on Sunday 3rd June.
As a special treat for those born on 2nd June 1953, the date of the Queen’s Coronation, they will receive free entry to The Alnwick Garden and Alnwick Castle for the whole Jubilee weekend, 2nd – 5th June inclusive (they will have to bring photographic proof of ID, i.e. passport, driving licence, etc.).
