Are dogs allowed in the castle and its grounds?

Unfortunately only guide dogs are permitted in the castle and grounds.

However, there are many beautiful dog-friendly walks in and around Alnwick - including in the pastures behind the castle.

What is your photography policy?

Photography of the exterior of the castle and grounds is permitted for non-commercial and personal use. Unfortunately, photography is not permitted in the State Rooms without prior arrangement. 

Alnwick Castle makes a magnificent venue for commercial photoshoots - please email press@alnwickcastle.com if you are interested in using the castle as a location.

When will the castle be open in 2013?

Alnwick Castle's opening times for 2013 are:

29 March - 30 October
(State Rooms close on 28 October)
Open daily, 10.00am-6.00pm (last admission 4.15pm)

State Rooms are open 11.00am-5.00pm daily (last admission 4.30pm. Chapel closes at 3.00pm)

Please note that Alnwick Castle will be temporarily closed from 19-25 June inclusive.

Very occasionally the castle may have to close early due to unforeseen circumstances. In the instance of such a closure, the amended opening times would be published on the Opening Times and Tickets and Prices pages.

Do you offer a discount for carers?

Yes we do - we offer free admission for a carer per disabled visitor who purchases a concession ticket. Please ask at Admissions on the date of your visit.

Is Alnwick Castle accessible for disabled visitors?

Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of the castle and its grounds, disabled access is limited in some areas (please click here for our full accessibility guide).

If I buy a ticket to Alnwick Castle can I also visit The Alnwick Garden?

Alnwick Castle and The Alnwick Garden are separate attractions, so you would need to buy a combined ticket if you wanted to visit both. Please click here for more ticket information.

What are the age ranges for tickets?

Adult: 17-59 years

Child: 5-16 years (under 5s go free)

Concession: students and those aged 60+ years (valid ID for both is required)
