Suitable for Key Stages 2 and 3. 1 hour, £40 per class (maximum 33 students per class).

Take part in a bloodthirsty battle for the borders!

Alnwick Castle's formidable gatehouse, known as the Barbican, provides us with some excellent clues as to how the Castle might have been defended.

Students are invited to run riot as they investigate the Castle's role as a fortress to protect and defend its inhabitants. Working in teams, students are given guidance as to how the Percy family and their medieval knights defended the Castle, as well as how the Scottish armies organised their attacks.
