Groups and Coach Parties
Coach parties and group bookings are welcomed at the Castle but we do ask you please to book in advance to enable us to make your visit as enjoyable as possible. A party of 14 or more is considered a group booking, and as there is plenty to see, we would suggest allowing at least three hours for your tour of the Castle and grounds.
For such parties we can offer:
- Guided tours of the State Rooms and Castle Grounds (max 25 people per group)
- A choice of dining options at either The Sanctuary at the Castle or the Courtyard Café
- A specialist tour of the China Gallery
- Dedicated tours can be organised out of hours by prior arrangement

Coaches are allowed to drop passengers in the Castle Square by admissions before moving to park at the Alnwick Garden car park. Free admission to the Castle and a refreshment voucher are provided to group leaders and coach drivers upon request.
Due to the historic nature of the Castle, disabled access is limited in some areas. Our admissions team will be happy to help wheelchair users or others requiring assistance by prior arrangement.

Alnwick Castle has much to offer as an educational experience.
Stomin' the Barbican
Designed for school parties and other groups of children this successful format allows their imagination to run riot as they learn how the Percy family and the medieval knights defended the Castle from attack by Scottish armies during the 14th century. Split into two groups they learn first how to attack the Castle and then change sides to decide how to defend it and keep the enemy out.
Ideal for 7 to 12 year olds, each session lasts 45 mins and can accommodate up to 30 children.
Dinner is Served
A unique opportunity for children to learn about the workings of a large stately home. Under the experienced eye of Castle staff they learn how to set the table in the State Dining room using the Duke's finest silverware, design a menu for a banquet and choose the wines to suit. Up to 16 children per session. Pre booking is required.
Knights Quest
For all school parties and groups, entry to Knights Quest, hands on fun of a medieval nature for young Knights and Ladies including jousting, sword fighting and other games is included in the admission price.
