Do you think you would have what it takes to storm this heavily fortified castle? How many creative ways can you think of which would enable your army to take siege? Reach the core provides an immersive and entertaining experience, demonstrating the ferocity of several medieval weapons whilst explaining the advantages and drawbacks of each.

Take the opportunity to handle each weapon and observe the incredible power and engineering prowess of the likes of stone throwing catapults as well as torsion and tension ballista’s, just to name a few!

Why not give these weapons a fire and see how much damage you can inflict on reach the core’s stone walls? But remember to choose your artillery wisely…

Castle Construction with The Company of Artisans Saturday 25th to Wednesday 29th

Discover the skill and talent needed to become a master builder during the medieval period.
Join the Company of Artisans as they showcase their expertise on castle construction during the 14th Century.  Learn from the master builder as he demonstrates the techniques used to build a castle.

Test your strength at lifting stone or use some ingenious medieval engineering to make the task much easier.

Jesting with Zooted Saturday 25th July - Wednesday 29th July

Experience fun filled family entertainment, suitable for Aristocracy of Northumberland, with this eccentric duo’s side-splitting theatrical performance of visual and verbal comedy!

Harking from a period when comedy was uncomplicated and well, let’s say… simple, Baldwin the
Fool and Godfrey Pugh never fail to delight audiences with their brilliant blend of medieval mischief and slapstick comedy. These jesters replicate entertainment as it would have been performed to the old courts of days gone by, when chivalry was the order of the day and valiant knights fought one another to defend their honour!

Witness medieval mischief and wondrous circus tricks, performed by this highly interactive and comical act, which is bound to have you laughing, cheering and even weeing (don’t worry, it’s just a sound effect you’ll be making during the show)!
