Within the castle's iconic walls are the State Rooms, decorated in lavish Italian Renaissance style, with one of the country's finest private art and furniture collections.

This collection includes works by Canaletto, Titian, Van Dyck, Turner, and Dobson; an extensive display of Paris, Meissen, and Chelsea porcelain; and the priceless Cucci cabinets, orginally created for Louis XIV of France.

Standing inside some of the original castle walls, the State Rooms were restored in the Victorian period by the 4th Duke of Northumberland, but retain modern touches of a living family home.

Our knowledgeable guides give daily guided tours of the State Rooms' fascinating collections, but do also feel free to wander at your leisure and ask any questions you may have.
