Evacuation Day Cancelled

In 2020 Alnwick Castle will be marking two significant anniversaries linked to the Second World War. The 80th anniversary of evacuees at Alnwick Castle and the 75th anniversary of VE Day.

We invite schools from across the North East of England to join us to learn about life at Alnwick Castle during the Second World War. During this special event students will;
  • learn why the Church High School evacuated to Alnwick Castle.
  • take part in a game of rounders on one of our baileys (weather permitting).
  • be shown where to go during an air raid.
  • write a postcard home about life at Alnwick Castle.
  • celebrate returning home.

This event is aimed at Key Stage 1 and 2 with links to History, Geography and P.E.

If you are interested in bringing your class to this unique event contact our education department on 01665 511100 and select option 2, or email
