Access to Alnwick Castle on 29th July, 4th and 7th August 2014

Due to extensive filming taking place at the castle, access on these dates is via Alnwick Castle visitor admissions only - not via The Alnwick Garden admissions. This entrance to the castle is through the iron railings on Castle Square in Alnwick at the top of a road called the Peth (B6341).

By road

Alnwick Castle is just off the A1 at Alnwick, and is well signposted. The main castle car park is just off Denwick Lane (B1340); the postcode for the car park is NE66 1YU (parking charge is £3 per vehicle for the day).

There is additional public parking in various locations in and around Alnwick, please follow the parking signs.

By bus

There are bus stops and a bus station in the centre of Alnwick, with buses connecting Alnwick to the surrounding towns as well as the city of Newcastle (the X15 and X18 buses both run from Haymarket bus station). It is approximately a five minute walk to the castle from the bus station. Click here for more information.

By rail

The main east coast line from London to Edinburgh stops at Alnmouth, which is four miles from Alnwick. A taxi or bus (X18) can be taken from Alnmouth (a journey of approximately 10 minutes).

By air and sea

Newcastle International Airport and the Port of Tyne are 35 miles away.
