Join one of our famous Broomstick Training sessions, held in the very location where Harry Potter had his first flying lesson in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone - or channel the spirit of our own Wizard Earl, Henry Percy, the 9th Earl of Northumberland, who ruled Alnwick Castle over 400 years ago.
With expert guidance from our instructors, you’ll learn basic skills such as cornering, manoeuvring, accelerating, and braking.
Lessons occur at intervals throughout the day (weather permitting), so you can find a time that works best for you.
Don’t forget to bring your camera to capture moments of you and your levitating broomstick—perfect for impressing your family and friends back home!

Broomstick Training sessions are free but require a time-slot ticket, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets can be collected upon arrival—ask our staff for details. Keep your ticket safe, as you’ll need to show it at the start of your lesson.

Ready for Takeoff
Once you've perfected your flying skills, it's time to prepare for takeoff! After your lesson, you'll have the chance to snap photos of your launch—how it's done is a wizarding secret, but our professors will share all with those who pass. Don’t forget to tag us or add the #AlnwickCastle hashtag if you share your photos.
