Follow in the footsteps of generations of archers who have graced Alnwick Castle over the centuries. From medieval warriors honing their skills to noble guests enjoying traditional pursuits, archery has long been woven into the Castle's history.
Now it's your turn to take aim. Unleash your inner archer and experience one of England's oldest and most celebrated skills in our Have-a-Go Archery sessions. Whether you're trying archery for the first time or looking to test your accuracy, our friendly instructors will guide you through the basics before you step up to the target.
Sessions take place daily on the Archery Lawn (weather permitting), offering a fun and memorable activity for visitors aged 11 and over.
Take Your Best Shot
Each Have-a-Go Archery session lasts approximately 20 minutes, giving you plenty of time to learn the fundamentals, practise your technique and test your aim.
There's no need to book in advance. Sessions operate on a first-come, first-served basis, so simply make your way to the Archery Lawn during your visit and join the next available session (subject to availability and weather conditions).
Everything you need is provided, including bows, arrows and all necessary safety equipment.
