Alnwick Castle is one of the most iconic castles in Britain. It's also one of the most popular visitor attractions in the North East of England. Every year thousands of people from around the world come to the Castle. Whether to learn more about its history, explore its film and TV connections or to simply have fun, when people visit we want them to have the best day possible.

To make this happen, we look to recruit individuals who share our enthusiasm for Alnwick Castle and can pass that enthusiasm onto our many visitors. Alnwick Castle's staff are one big team; every member of staff is valued and plays an important part in ensuring visitors have the great experience they expect.

The friendly welcome, the fascinating history, and the amazing food; the interactive learning, the story telling and the clean facilities. It's all important, it all contributes to the great visitor experience, and we want to recruit people who can help us achieve it.

VISITOR SERVICES ASSISTANTS
AND ADMISSIONS TILL OPERATORS


Alnwick Castle is now recruiting for seasonal staff for its Visitor Services and Admissions department. You must be flexible, reliable, punctual and well-presented. Duties include serving customers using EPOS till systems, providing a warm, friendly welcome to all visitors, delivering correct information on the Castle's various opening times, prices, activities, and facilities, and ticket checking at Castle entry points.

This role is primarily outdoors, but there may be an opportunity to participate in other departments. Anyone with excellent customer service and/or till operating skills would be suited to this role.

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTS


Alnwick Castle is now recruiting for seasonal Administrative Assistants. You must be flexible, reliable, punctual and well-presented. Duties include answering all general visitor enquiries via email and telephone, using EPOS till systems, providing a warm, friendly response to all visitors, delivering correct information on the Castle's various opening times, prices, activities and facilities, and communicating regularly with Alnwick Castle management about visitor feedback.

This role is primarily office-based, and may include additional duties on behalf of the Admissions Sales and Marketing departments. Anyone with excellent customer service and/or IT skills would be suited to this role.

Historical InterpreterS & PerformerS


Do you have the energy and excitement to bring history to life?

Alnwick Castle is currently recruiting for Historical Interpreters and Performers for the upcoming season. You could be part of a fast-paced, hard-working team with a focus on making the day memorable for everyone.

You must be available between three to five days a week from March to October and be prepared to work weekends and some evenings.

FILM TOUR GUIDES


Alnwick Castle's 'On Location' film tours, showing visitors how the Castle has been used on screen, are one of our most popular activities. In 2019, over 22,000 people enjoyed these tours with our dedicated team of Film Tour Guides working within the wider Guides team. If you enjoy watching, learning and talking about film and television, sharing your enthusiasm with people of all ages and backgrounds, a seasonal role as a Film Tour Guide at Alnwick Castle is well suited for you.

The ability to retain knowledge and information about the Castle's film history, and to communicate it in a clear, friendly and accessible way, is essential. You will need a strong and confident voice, as you will conduct multiple tours each day. Harry Potter fandom may be beneficial!

Stewarding in the Castle's magnificent State Rooms and other areas currently open to the public, and conducting a variety of full guided tours for visitors, you will contribute to every visitor's enjoyment of Alnwick Castle, and bring its history and collections to life. An enthusiasm for working with customers, the ability to retain knowledge about the Castle, and to communicate it in a clear, friendly and accessible way, is essential.

KITCHEN ASSISTANTS / PORTERS


Alnwick Castle is looking for candidates with exemplary customer service skills to be part of a dynamic and diverse team across a range of food outlets. Kitchen Assistants / Porters will have additional duties supporting the Chefs in our busy kitchen areas.

You will be required to assist the Chefs in keeping all food preparation areas exceptionally clean and organised and be responsible for the organisation, cleaning and storage of crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. You will also assist in delivering food to the various outlets around the Castle site. A positive attitude towards work is essential, as is the ability to motivate others.

CLEANING OPERATIVES


Alnwick Castle is now recruiting for seasonal Cleaning Operatives. Duties will include cleaning across the Castle site and in several offices, emptying bins, and ensuring the Castle grounds are kept litter free at all times. Ensuring items from our dedicated recycling bins are separated and recycled accordingly is essential.

You must be flexible and well-presented, and will be required to work split shifts - mornings, afternoons, and the occasional evening. Weekend working is essential. A successful candidate will demonstrate recent experience as a Cleaning Operative, and some knowledge of various cleaning equipment. Some heavy lifting may be required.

DRAWBRIDGE ticketing ASSISTANTS (SUMMER HOLIDAYS)


Working closely with the Guiding teams, Alnwick Castle's Drawbridge Ticketing Assistants ensure that during the Castle's extremely busy peak season of July and August, every visitor wishing to see the State Rooms has a valid timeslot entry ticket, distributed and checked by you to ensure the rooms never exceed their capacity.

Providing a warm, friendly welcome to all visitors and delivering correct information about the Castle, you must be flexible, reliable and well-presented. A confident and outgoing personality is essential.

This role is primarily outdoors. Please note this role will operate during school holiday periods only. You must be available between three to five days a week in July and August.

Alnwick Castle are looking for homestyle bakers to create delicious treats for our Courtyard Café and Armoury Take-away from March to October.

Part-time and family-friendly hours available.
