Alnwick Castle is one of the most iconic castles in Britain and one of the most popular visitor attractions in the North East of England. Whether people visit to learn more about our history, explore our film connections or simply have fun, we want them to have the best day possible.

To make this happen, we recruit individuals who share our enthusiasm for Alnwick Castle and can in turn share it with our visitors. Alnwick Castle's seasonal staff are one big team; every member of staff is valued and plays an important part in ensuring visitors have the great experience they expect, and feel safe while doing so.

The friendly welcome, the fascinating history, the amazing food, the interactive learning, the performances and the clean facilities. They are all parts of a great visitor experience, and we are looking for people who can help us achieve it.

Please note, although the castle doesn't officially open until Friday, 29th March 2024, there will be a Staff Induction Day on 2nd March and training days prior to opening. These dates will be discussed during interviews.

Front of House Team - Fusiliers Museum of Northumberland (seasonal)

The Fusiliers Museum of Northumberland is a military museum which celebrates the history of one of the oldest British Regiments, the 5th Regiment of Foot. Formed in 1674, the regiment is known today as the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers.The Regimental Museum includes 350 years of history.The exhibition on three floors of the Abbot’s Tower, has been part of Alnwick Castle for more than fifty years.   

To enable us to continue to provide this important contribution to Alnwick Castle’s visitor experience we need to expand to our existing Front of House team. Our Front of House team are a crucial part of our operation, providing a warm welcome and information about the fascinating history of the Regiment and its links with the Percy family.

Front of House Staff
For the 2024 season we are looking for smart, enthusiastic individuals who can provide a friendly welcome, attend to customers in our gift shop and offer help and advice to our visitors. 
You will be responsible for preparing the museum for opening; welcoming and providing a point of contact for our visitors; distributing welcome leaflets and museum trails, encouraging visitor comments and donations, selling goods from our gift shop, re-stocking and carrying out end of day procedures. Assistance with deliveries may be required which might include some heavy lifting. 
Desirable qualities include previous experience in a customer-facing role, cash and card payments, ability to work equally as well alone or as part of a team, and experience of an EPOS system or equivalent – although training will be provided.
You will be required to be available to work for one day per week on a rota basis with flexibility to pick up extra days to cover staff holidays. As the museum is open 7 days a week so there will be occasional weekend working.
