Alnwick Castle is one of the most iconic castles in Britain. It's also one of the most popular visitor attractions in the North East of England. Every year thousands of people from around the world come to the Castle. Whether to learn more about its history, explore its film and TV connections or to simply have fun, when people visit we want them to have the best day possible.

To make this happen, we look to recruit individuals who share our enthusiasm for Alnwick Castle and can pass that enthusiasm onto our many visitors. Alnwick Castle's staff are one big team; every member of staff is valued and plays an important part in ensuring visitors have the great experience they expect.

The friendly welcome, the fascinating history, and the amazing food; the interactive learning, the story telling and the clean facilities. It's all important, it all contributes to the great visitor experience, and we want to recruit people who can help us achieve it.

If you enjoy learning and talking about history or art, and would like the opportunity to engage with people of all ages from all over the world, a seasonal role as a State Room and Tour Guide at Alnwick Castle is well suited for you.

Stewarding in the Castle's magnificent State Rooms and Life Below Stairs areas, and conducting a variety of tours for visitors, you will contribute to every visitor's enjoyment of Alnwick Castle, and bring its history and collections to life. An enthusiasm for working with customers, the ability to retain knowledge about the Castle, and to communicate it in a clear, friendly and accessible way, is essential.

FILM TOUR GUIDES


Alnwick Castle's 'On Location' tours, showing visitors parts of the Castle seen on screen, are one of our most popular activities. In 2018, they are expanding, with a small dedicated team of Film Tour Guides. If you enjoy learning and talking about film, and sharing your enthusiasm with people of all ages from all over the world, a seasonal role as a Film Tour Guide at Alnwick Castle is well suited for you.

The ability to retain knowledge and information about the Castle's film history, and to communicate it in a clear, friendly and accessible way, is essential. You will need a strong and confident voice, as you will conduct multiple tours each day for visitors, schools and private groups. Harry Potter fandom may be beneficial!

Alnwick Castle welcomes visitors from all over the world, from China to South America as well as throughout Europe. We are committed to giving visitors of all nationalities a memorable and enjoyable experience, and as a language speaking State Room and Tour Guide, or a language speaking Film Tour Guide, you will have an important role in making this possible. VISITOR SERVICES ASSISTANTS
AND ADMISSIONS TILL OPERATORS


Alnwick Castle is now recruiting for seasonal staff for its Visitor Services and Admissions department. You must be flexible, reliable, punctual and well-presented. Duties include serving customers using EPOS till systems, providing a warm, friendly welcome to all visitors, delivering correct information on the Castle's various opening times, prices, activities, and facilities, and ticket checking at Castle entry points.

This role is primarily outdoors, but there may be an opportunity to participate in other departments. Anyone with excellent customer service and/or till operating skills would be suited to this role.

Food and Beverage Assistants


Alnwick Castle is looking for candidates with exemplary customer service skills to be part of a dynamic and diverse team offering an efficient and enjoyable dining experience across a range of food outlets. Alnwick Castle's Food and Beverage Assistants will be expected to demonstrate flexibility in order to work in all areas of our catering across the Alnwick Castle site, serving food and drinks to visitors. You may also be required to assist with functions offering banqueting service.

Alnwick Castle is also recruiting for kitchen ASSISTANTS & fish and chip shop supervisors with additional duties supporting the Chefs in our busy kitchen areas.

CLEANING OPERATIVES


Alnwick Castle is now recruiting for seasonal Cleaning Operatives. Duties will include cleaning across the Castle site and in several offices, emptying bins, and ensuring the Castle grounds are kept litter free at all times.

You must be flexible and well-presented, and will be required to work split shifts - mornings, afternoons, and the occasional evening. Weekend working is essential. A successful candidate will demonstrate recent experience as a Cleaning Operative, and some knowledge of various cleaning equipment. Some heavy lifting may be required.
