Opening Times

Alnwick Castle welcomes visitors from spring through to autumn each year, with the 2026 season running until 22 October.

The Castle Grounds are open daily from 10am, with last admission at 3.45pm. During the summer months, visitors can enjoy extended opening hours, giving even more time to explore the castle and its grounds.

How to Get to Alnwick Castle

Located in the heart of Northumberland, Alnwick Castle is easy to reach whether you're travelling by car, train, bus or on foot.

We have two postcodes you can use to help navigate: NE66 ING will take you to our admission office, while NE66 IHB will lead you straight to the visitor entrance.

By Car

Just one mile from the A1, Alnwick Castle is well signposted and easily accessible from both the north and south. Parking is available nearby, making it a convenient destination for day trips and holidays alike.

By Train

The nearest railway station is Alnmouth, approximately four miles from the castle. From there, visitors can take a short taxi ride or local bus service into Alnwick.

By Bus

Regular services connect Alnwick with Newcastle, Berwick-upon-Tweed and surrounding areas. Alnwick Bus Station is only a short walk from the castle entrance.

On Foot

If you're staying in Alnwick, the castle is just a few minutes' walk from the town centre, allowing you to enjoy the historic streets and independent shops along the way.

Parking Information

Visitors can park in the shared car park used by Alnwick Castle and The Alnwick Garden.

Parking is available throughout the day, and payment is accepted by card. We recommend arriving early during peak holiday periods to ensure a smooth start to your visit.
