Getting to Alnwick

Alnwick Castle is ideally located in the heart of Northumberland, just off the A1, making it easy to reach by car, train, or bus.

By Road:
Visitors travelling by road can access Alnwick Castle directly from the A1. Clear signposts guide you into Alnwick town, where convenient parking is available near the castle grounds.

By Rail:
The nearest train station to Alnwick Castle is Alnmouth Station, situated on the East Coast Main Line between London and Edinburgh. The station is only four miles from the castle — around a 10-minute journey by taxi or local bus (we recommend pre-booking taxis in advance).

By Bus:
Alnwick has excellent local and regional bus connections, with stops throughout the town and a central bus station just a short walk from the castle.

From Newcastle, the X15, X18, and X20 buses depart regularly from Haymarket Bus Station, offering a scenic route through the Northumberland countryside. The Alnwick Bus Station is only a five-minute walk from Alnwick Castle’s main entrance.
