Are dogs allowed in the castle and its grounds?
Unfortunately only guide dogs are permitted in the castle and grounds.
However, there are many beautiful dog-friendly walks in and around Alnwick - including in the pastures behind the castle.
Do I need to print my tickets if I bought them online?
No, don't worry, you can either print your tickets and bring them with you (which means you wouldn't need to queue in Admissions), or you can show them on your mobile phone to a member of staff in Admissions and they will print them for you.
Either way, don't forget to ask to validate your castle tickets for 12 months!
If I buy a ticket to the castle can I also visit The Alnwick Garden?
As Alnwick Castle and The Alnwick Garden are separate attractions (rather than a ‘castle and grounds’ arrangement similar to other stately homes – the castle does have its own grounds which are distinct from The Alnwick Garden), this is reflected in the ticketing.
There are a number of ticket options available:
- Castle and garden
Tickets to Alnwick Castle can be validated for 12 months (at no extra cost) in Admissions on the date of your visit, but tickets to The Alnwick Garden are valid for the day only.
Save 10% on castle-only tickets and 5% on garden-only and joint tickets by booking online here.
What is your photography policy?
Photography of the exterior of the castle and grounds is permitted for non-commercial and personal use. Unfortunately, photography is not permitted in the State Rooms without prior arrangement.
Alnwick Castle makes a magnificent venue for commercial photoshoots - please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in using the castle as a location.
