Alnwick Castle has been awarded the Visit Britain ‘We’re Good to Go’ Kite Mark to reassure you that our priority is the safety of our visitors and staff. We have completed a full risk assessment to ensure your visit is as safe as possible. 
 

The Inner and Outer Baileys are open together with the picnic area on Bowburn outside the Castle walls.  
 

In order to maintain social distancing and for the safety of our visitors, the State Rooms, Courtyard, café, shop, Artisans Courtyard, and Dungeon, together with the Courtyard WCs remain closed.  There are no guided tours, Broomstick Training or other activities in the Castle grounds in order to maintain social distancing for the safety of our staff and visitors.

The Castle Museum and Constable’s Tower are open but with restricted entry numbers to maintain social distancing.  Please follow the entry stewards’ directions.  One family group will be allowed in at a time and a face mask must be worn. The Fusiliers’ Museum will remain closed.
 

Please don’t come if you are showing symptoms of Covid-19 (high temperature, new continuous cough or loss of taste or smell). If you need to alter your visit due to COVID 19 restrictions, please use live chat or call 01665 511100 and our staff will re-arrange the visit for you.

Please note that we are contactless and there is no cash on site.

Please bring a face mask as in some areas the social distance is only 1m.  

An enhanced cleaning regime is in operation working on a continuous cleaning rota.

Hand sanitiser is readily available across the site. We politely request that all guests wash their hands / use hand sanitiser regularly.  
 

All our staff have been given specific Coronavirus training to keep themselves and our visitors safe.
 

We have extra staff on site to ensure that you will have a positive and safe experience.

Please do not arrive in advance of the time on your ticket to ensure that we can maintain social distancing and avoid queuing. Please bring your booking confirmation as we will not be able to allow entry without it.
 

If you are driving to Alnwick Castle and plan to use our car park located on Denwick Lane, please be considerate of those around you whilst parking or returning to your vehicle. Paying for parking will be via contactless card payment only, and you are able to park anywhere other than the first tier which is reserved for Blue Badge holders only.
 

For your safety, please keep 2m apart where you can, and where this is not possible 1m apart (following the mitigation measures as directed by the site stewards) from other groups and follow the clear markers around the site, new signage will tell you important safety information. Please follow the one-way routes where applicable and please be respectful of others space. Adults are politely reminded that it is their responsibility to ensure that children in their care are supervised at all times so that they follow the social distancing guidelines.

There are temporary toilet facilities available near the entrance to the castle on the Bowburn picnic area, these will be cleaned regularly for your safety. Disabled facilities are also available.
 

We have a takeaway service on offer from our pop-up catering partners. Visitors are welcome to bring picnics for Bowburn.  Please use the litter bins provided if you cannot take your litter home with you.
 

Please observe the 2m spacings when queuing for WCs or catering.
 

A proportion of the price of each ticket sold will be shared between the following local charities:  HospiceCare North Northumberland (Northumberland Estates’ Charity of the Year), the Alnwick Playhouse, the Fusiliers’ Museum and the Bailiffgate Museum, in recognition that all have been adversely affected by the impact of Covid-19.
 

Due to the change in pricing for the remainder of the 2020 season we have suspended the Alnwick Castle unlock scheme for new members and any promotional activity on the new rates of entry.
