We are delighted to welcome bestselling historian and TV presenter Dan Jones back to Alnwick Castle to speak about his latest book, Castles: A Fortified History of the World.

For over three thousand years, castles have inspired ambition, foiled conquering forces, and existed as the ultimate expression of wealth and status. In Castles, Dan Jones leads readers on a journey through centuries and across continents, revealing the shifting tides of warfare, the rise and fall of empires, the resilience of people under siege and the flourishing of new ideas.

Dan Jones is the author of The Plantagenets, Powers and Thrones and Henry V, and the presenter of numerous TV series including Secrets of Great British Castles. His non-fiction books have sold more than a million copies.

The event will also feature a display of rarely seen items from the Castle archives connected to the book.
